This guide is for those who want to upgrade iPhone (with Bootloader 3.9/4.6) firmware from 1.1.3 (or below) to firmware 1.1.4 using PWNAGE tools from Dev Team. http://iphone-dev.org/
此方法是用iPhone Dev Team 的 PwnTool 將 iPhone 由 1.1.3 或以下的軟體版本升級至 1.1.4

If you have firmware 1.1.4 on your iPhone and is now working fine and don't want to test the buggy 2.0 firmware, there is no reason for you to use PWNAGE now. You can wait and see what available solutions that you will have in the near future, as other developers will release their new unlocking tools when Apple released its official firmware 2.0.
如果你的iPhone已是1.1.4 的軟體版本, 在使用上沒有問題並且不需急於嘗試問題很多的 2.0 Beta 的軟體版本, 你可等侍其他升級方法, 相信在 2.0 的軟體版本正式出爐時會有更多選擇.

Limitations & Requirements
此方法的限制及要求
(1) It is a new tool to unlock, so there are risks in using it
    新方法升級是有風險.
(2) PWNAGE Tools 1.0 has Mac OS X version (Windows version will be released very soon)
    現時只有Mac OS X 版本, 但很快便有 Windows版本
(3) Mac OS X 10.4.11 or above (PPC or Intel are both OK)
    Mac OS X 10.4.11版本以上, PPC 或 Intel CPU都可使用
(4) You cannot restore directly to firmware 2.0 beta, you must start with firmware 1.1.4 and PWN the iPhone first
    不能直接升級2.0Beta的軟體版本要由1.1.4的軟體版本開始進行PWN iPhone, 才再升級2.0Beta的軟體版本
(5) This tool will only support upgrade to 1.1.4/1.2.0 beta/2.0 beta firmware.
    此工具只支援升級1.1.4/1.2.0 beta/2.0 beta的軟體版本
(6) This tool will not solve the iTunes unknown error (1011 etc), you have to solve this issue first. Please refer to this to solve the problem of iTunes error message

DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode and Recovery Mode
You have to know how to make your iPhone go to DFU mode and Recovery Mode

DFU Mode vs Recovery mode - DFU (device firmware upgrade) mode is a special mode that bypasses the operating system and lets you upgrade the device. When in DFU mode, the phone will have no display on the screen. Recovery mode is more common. When in Recovery mode, the phone will have a connect to iTunes graphic on the screen. In this mode you can also restore or upgrade your device, but it is not as drastic as DFU mode. Many restore problems can be solved by using DFU mode.

你需要知道怎樣將iPhone 進入DFU mode及Recovery Mode
For DFU mode you need to
進入DFU mode你需要
(a) iPhone is power on but not connected to USB cable
假設開始時iPhone是開著的, 不連接USB Cable
(b) Launch iTunes in Mac and connect iPhone to USB cable which should be connected to the Mac USB Port
在電腦開啟iTunes, 才將iPhone連接USB
(c) You will be asked that there is a new firmware 1.1.4 available, Click Cancel/No download/No Install
iTunes 會提示有新軟體版本下載, 按"取消/不要下載/不要安裝"
(d) Press Power/sleep button and Home button of iPhone and hold it for about 7 seconds until the screen of iPhone is completely black
在iPhone按Power/Sleep(右上)及Home(正面下中)按鍵不放手約7秒至iPhone螢幕變全黑
(e) Allow 2 seconds after screen turns black(iTunes will now know that iPhone is in DFU), release iPhone's power button but continue holding home button of iPhone
iPhone螢幕會變全黑, 變全黑後約2秒(好讓iTunes知道iPhone進入DFU),放開iPhone的 Power/sleep(右上)按鍵但iPhone的Home(正面下中)按鍵仍然不放手
(f) In iTunes a messgae box will appear (then you can release iPhone Home Button) then click "OK" in iTunes
iTunes 會顯示需要進行回復, 此時可放開iPhone 的Home按鍵, 在iTunes 按"確定"

For Recovery mode you need to
(a) iPhone is not connected to USB cable
假設開始時iPhone是開著的, 不連接USB Cable
(b) Launch iTunes on your Mac
在電腦開啟iTunes
(c) Power off your iPhone and pressing the Power/sleep button for 3 second and slide to power off
關閉iPhone, 按Power/Sleep(右上)約3秒, 看見slide to power off根據指示時將iPhone關閉
(e) Press Home button of iPhone and while continue holding and pressing the home button of iPhone, connect iPhone to the usb cable.
按著iPhone的Home(正面下中)按鍵不放手及將iPhone連接USB Cable
(f) In iTunes a messgae box will appear (then you can release iPhone Home Button) then click "OK" in iTunes
iTunes 會顯示需要進行回復, 此時可放開iPhone 的Home按鍵, 在iTunes 按"確定"

Steps to goto firmware 1.1.4 using PWN Tools
用 Pwn Tools 升級步驟
(1) Sync and Back up your Data　(you can use scp to backup data)
確定iPhone可同步iTunes及在升級前進行一次同步及備份 (可用 SCP備份方法）
(1a) Sync iPhone contacts, Safari bookmarks, photos to iTunes.
(1b) Back up your developed programs or Applications / Application data from your iPhone to your Mac, you can use Terminal scp or cyberduck
(1c) Back *.db from iPhone to Mac using Terminal scp or cyberduck

(2) Download files (It is important to check the md5 sum of these downloads as bootloader patch is a dangerous tool)

(2a) Download the PwnageTool

(3) You need to know your administrator username and password for the Mac that you are using. This is normally the first username and password that you created when you first use the Mac or the one that you are now using.
你需要有Administrator Right 的 username 及 Password

(4) Put your iPhone into DFU mode and Hold down the Option and click Restore to firmware 1.1.4 that downloaded in step 2(b) then click the Open button.
將iPhone 進入 DFU Mode及在iTunes顯示需要進行回復訊息後,在鍵盤上按Option及iTunes按 "回復"
及選擇在2(b)步驟下載的1.1.4軟體版本, 滑鼠按 "Open"

(5) Then the iTunes will show that restoring iPhone software is in progress and will take several minutes
iTunes 會顯示正進行回復, 並等待數分鐘

(6) After restore, disconnect usb cable and exit iTunes
回復後, 拔除 USB Cable 及關閉iTunes

(7) hold down your Sleep/Wake button for 3 seconds. The power slider will appear. Slide this to the right to power off your iPhone.
關閉iPhone, 按Power/Sleep(右上)約3秒, 看見slide to power off根據指示時將iPhone關閉

(8) Double click PwnageTool to launch the application.
在電腦開啟　Pwnage Tool

(9) If prompted that PwnageTool is an application that was downloaded from the internet click the Open button.
滑鼠接 "Open"

(10) If you would like PwntageTool to automatically check for update then click the Yes button.
如你需要 Pwnage Tool自動更新滑鼠選擇 "Yes"

(11) Click the Browse .ipsw button in PwnageTool.
滑鼠按 "Browse .ipsw"

(12) A window will appear in which you should choose the 1.1.4 firmware that downloaded in step 2(b) then click the Open button.
選擇在2(b)步驟下載的1.1.4軟體版本, 滑鼠按 "Open"

(13) Click the iPwner button
滑鼠按 "iPwner"

(14) You will be asked to connect your iPhone and put it into recovery mode.
會提示你將iPhone進入Recovery Mode

(15) hold down the Home button as you connect the iPhone to the USB cable. After a few seconds the recovery screen will appear. (iTunes logo and cable).
iPhone已關閉, 按著iPhone的Home(正面下中)按鍵不放手及將iPhone連接USB Cable, 此時iPhone會顯示回復圖案

(16) PwnageTool will then let you know your phone is being pwned and to please wait for a reboot.
Then the iPhone screen will show some running test and a pineapple logo will appear
PwnTools 會顯示正進行Pwn, 並等待數分鐘, iPhone會出現連續文字及出現菠蘿logo然後重新啟動

(17) After reboot, disconnect iPhone from USB cable
當iPhone重新啟動後, 便可拔除 USB Cable 及關閉iTunes

(18) click the IPSW Builder button in PwnageTool.
From the menu that appears select:
在PwnageTool內滑鼠接 "IPSW Builder"
滑鼠選擇
- Enable baseband update
- Neuter bootloader
- Unlock baseband
- Activate phone
Then click the OK button.
及按 "OK"

(19) PwnageTool will now ask you for the bootloader images.
會提示提供 Bootloader 擋案
Click the browse button for the bootloader 3.9 image and select BL-39.bin file from download step 2(c).

Click the browse button for the bootloader 4.6 image and select BL-46.bin file from download step 2(c).

Finally click the OK button.
最後按 "OK"

(20) Pwnage Tool will ask you to select where to save the custom ipsw file. Click the Save button.
會提示新建IPSW擋案的儲存位置, 按 "Save"

(21) Pwnage Tool will then ask you to login using your administrator username and password.
會提示輸入Mac電腦administrator的username 及 password

(22) Input administrator username and password and then click the OK button.
輸入administrator的username 及 password, 按 "OK"

(23) PwnageTool will then show you that IPSW Builder has completed successfully.
會顯示已成功新建IPSW擋案

(24) Quit PwnageTool
關閉PwnageTool

(25) Launch iTunes using its icon in the dock.
在電腦開啟iTunes

(26) shut down your iPhone and put it in Recovery mode
then you will the the pineapple logo (instead of apple) and the parody Steve Jobs raising his hands when iPhone in Recovery Mode
iPhone應已關閉, 將iPhone 進入 DFU Mode及在iTunes顯示需要進行回復訊息後按"OK"
iPhone出現菠蘿logo(代替蘋果), 及回復圖像變成Steve Jobs

(27) Hold down the Option and click the Restore button in iTunes
在鍵盤上按Option及iTunes按 "回復"

(28) Select the custom firmware file (iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Custom_Restore.ipsw) that created in step (20) and click the Open button.
選擇在(20)步驟下新建的iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Custom_Restore.ipsw擋案, 按 "Open"

(29) iTunes will then restore to our new custom firmware.
iTunes 會顯示正進行回復, 並等待數分鐘

(30) Once iTunes restore is complete iPhone will reboot and autolaunch BootNeuter.
iPhone會重新啟動及自動開啟BootNeuter

(31) BootNeuter will then proceed to Flash Bootloader and Flash Baseband (Now flashing baseband.... and will take several minutes). Do not interrupt this process.
BootNeuter會進行 Flash Bootloader 及 Flash Baseband, 並等待數分鐘, 其間不要中斷

(32) Once BootNeuter is done it will reboot the iPhone on its own and your Pwnage process will be completed and disconnect from USB cable
BootNeuter完成後會重啟iPhone, 便可拔除 USB Cable

After reboot, you will have BootNeuter and Installer in your iPhone. BootNeuter is a dangerous tool on your iPhone, it is better to hide it or delete it from your iPhone.
重啟iPhone後會有BootNeuter及Installer. BootNeuter是一個危險工具, 最好隱藏或刪除.

(33) Connect iPhone to wifi and change Auto-Lock to Never and install the followings
iPhone 連接 wifi, 將IPhone設定自動鎖定為"永不", 及安裝以下軟件
BSD Subsystem 2.1 (must install first, 要先安裝)
Community Sources 3.7-1
OpenSSH 4.6p1-2
AppSupport Patch (1.1.4)
BossPrefs 1.62

Install other packages and input method / localisation that you like
安裝中文輸入及繁體中文化及其他你需要的軟件

(34) Connect to iTunes and sync your music, video, ringtone, contacts and calendar etc. and test music and sound
When re-sync in iTunes, please choose "setup as a new iPhone" in iTunes, it will sync back the old contact list and calendar data etc
在iTunes同步你的音樂, 鈴聲, 聯絡人及行事曆等等及測試聲音, 在同步前iTunes會詢問, 請設定為"新 iPhone 電話"

Pwnage Tool 升級1.1.4及軟解後常見問題集及解決方案
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
請先在 Installer 安裝 "BSD Subsystem 2.1"

(1) 不能連接EDGE, 不能輸入APN, 沒有WiFi, iPhone突然無聲及其他奇難雜症
解決方案:
Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings

(2) SMS 不能顯示人名, 電話號碼的顯示不是香港格式
解決方案:
Installer 安裝 "AppSupport Patch (1.1.4)"
Settings->General->International->Region Format 選擇 Hong Kong S.A.R. China

(3) 不能關閉EDGE
解決方案:
Installer 安裝 "BossPrefs"
在 BossPrefs 內關閉 EDGE

(4) 不能輸入中文
解決方案:
Installer 加 Source http://www.iphone.org.hk/repository.plist
安裝 "NativeCn Version 3.10a"

(5) Settings->General->International->Language 不能選擇中文
解決方案:
Installer 加 Source http://iphone4.tw/unlock/
安裝 "繁體中文化 version 1.1.4"

(6) SpringBoard 是否可以隱藏Application Icon (例如隱藏BootNeuter) ?
解決方案:
Installer 安裝 "BossPrefs"
選擇"More"-> "Dock Icons"
選擇你要隱藏的Application Icons

(7) BootNeuter有什麼用, 可否Uninstall ?
解決方案:
If someone was to constantly flash your bootloader you could break your phone. So its best to remove the application or at least hide it from the main screen.
建議刪除(在Build IPSW時選擇Auto delete BootNeuter.app) 或用上面隱藏的方法

(12) 升級後使用Mac Terminal ssh/scp 出現錯誤信息
WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED!

解決方案:
修改~/.ssh/known_hosts 及刪除iPhone IP address 的一行
或刪除整個檔案

rm ~/.ssh/known_hosts

(13) 可連接Wifi及上網, 但不能用SSH連接
解決方案:
Uninstall "Services" (如有)
Installer 安裝 "BossPrefs"
在 BossPrefs 內 Enable SSH

(14) 升級後iTunes設定為新電話後只能在同步後保存部份資料例如 Contacts, Safari Bookmarks, Calendar. 但 SMS, Notes, Call History, YouTube Bookmark 及 Map Bookmark 就沒有了.

解決方案:
如果你從1.1.3/4升級, 你可以先用scp/cyberduck 備份, 升級後再抄回原處

Pwnage Tool教學] 升級 Firmware 2.0 Beta 3 步驟 (build 5A240d)

Unless you have plenty of times to play with it or want to build SDK program, don't do this for beta 3 (build 5A240d), it still has bugs.

Firmware 2.0 Beta現時並不支援升級/降級Baseband, 升級/降級Baseband要在Firmware 1.1.4進行.
This method will not upgrade baseband to 04.05.01. If you want to upgrade your baseband, you should first do it in firmware 1.1.4, please follow this guide

If you have upgraded baseband to 04.05.01 and want to go back to 1.1.4, you need to erase the baseband in firmware 1.1.4 after downgrade. Existing method does not allow you to upgrade or downgrade baseband in beta 2.0. It must all be done in firmware 1.1.4

(1) You need to be very sure that you want to test this beta firmware 2.0
要明白試驗測試版本的風險

(2) You must first use PWNAGE first and have restored the custom firmware for 1.1.4. Keep that custom firmware 1.1.4 (iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Custom_Restore.ipsw) in your Mac and in case you don't like the beta firmware 2.0, you can option-restore back to the custom 1.1.4 that you have created. It is preferable to create another IPSW file for restore point to Firmware 1.1.4 as well.
要先將iPhone在1.1.4下完成Pwn後, 並保存原先製造的iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Custom_Restore.ipsw檔案, 在嘗試過Beta後可回復到1.1.4版本. 另外建議再製造另一IPSW檔案作回復點.

(3) 2.0 Beta works on top of the 1.1.4 Enable baseband update, Neuter bootloader, Unlock baseband and Activate. So you have to unlock your phone in 1.1.4 THEN upgrade to 2.0.
確定iPhone 已在1.1.4 Enable baseband update, Neuter bootloader, Unlock baseband 及 Activate.

(4) Make sure that you have installed BSD subsystem and SSH in existing firmware 1.1.4, as there is no Installer in Beta 2.0 firmware. Moreover, sync with iTunes and back up data and book marks
確定iPhone在1.1.4版本已安裝 BSD Subsystem及SSH, Beta 2.0 版本將沒有Installer. 在iTunes 作同步及備份.

(5) google search iPhone1_1_2.0_5A240d_Restore.ipsw and they are plenty of torrents out there
用Google找尋2.0 Beta軟件

製造自定Firmware 2.0
(6) Double click PwnageTool (version 1.1) to launch the application.
在電腦開啟 PwnageTool (version 1.1)

(7) Click the Browse .ipsw button in PwnageTool.
滑鼠接 "Browse .ipsw"

(8) A window will appear in which you should choose the iPhone1_1_2.0_5A240d_Restore.ipsw that downloaded in step (5) then click the Open button.
選擇在步驟(5)下載的2.0 beta軟體版本, 滑鼠按 "Open"

(9) Click the IPSW Builder button in PwnageTool.
From the menu that appears select:

(16) PwnageTool will then show you that IPSW Builder has completed successfully.
會顯示已成功新建IPSW擋案

(17) Quit PwnageTool
關閉PwnageTool

(18) Launch iTunes using its icon in the dock.
在電腦開啟iTunes

(19) shut down your iPhone and put it in Recovery mode
and use iTunes Option-Restore the created custom firmware file iPhone1,1_2.0_5A240d_Custom_Restore.ipsw
IPhone應已關閉, 將iPhone 進入 Recovery Mode

在iTunes用Option+Restore方法並選擇 iPhone1,1_2.0_5A240d_Custom_Restore.ipsw進行回復

(20) Wait for a few minutes for iTunes to restore the custom firmware
等候數分鐘, iTunes將回復自製firmware

(21) Once iTunes restore is complete your iPhone will reboot and you will be in the new 2.0 Beta Firmware.
iPhone會重新啟動便會進入2.0 Beta Firmware

(22) Connect to iTunes (version 7.6.2) and sync your music, video, ringtone, contacts and calendar etc. and test music and sound
When re-sync in iTunes, please choose "setup as a new iPhone" in iTunes, it will sync back the old contact list and calendar data etc
在iTunes (7.6.2版本) 同步你的音樂, 鈴聲, 聯絡人及行事曆等等及測試聲音, 在同步前iTunes會詢問, 請設定為"新 iPhone 電話"

Pwnage Tool 升級 firmware beta 2.0 後常見問題集
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) 沒有Installer, 不能安裝軟件
解決方案:
大部份用UIKit Foundation Framework 的1.1.4 軟件都不能在Firmware 2.0運行
但可用 ssh / wget / bsd unix command
lighttpd 及 PHP 都可以用, 但要用scp 或 wget 安裝

或用idemocracy 安裝軟件

(9) 升級後使用Mac Terminal ssh/scp 出現錯誤信息

修改~/.ssh/known_hosts 及刪除iPhone IP address 的一行
或刪除整個檔案

rm ~/.ssh/known_hosts

(10) 升級Firmware 2.0後iTunes要升級7.6.2 才能同步
解決方案:
升級iTunes 7.6.2

(11) 升級後iTunes設定為新電話後只能在同步後保存部份資料例如 Contacts, Safari Bookmarks, Calendar. 但 SMS, Notes, Call History, YouTube Bookmark 及 Map Bookmark 就沒有了.

解決方案:
如果你從1.1.3/4升級, 你可以先用scp/cyberduck 備份, 升級後再抄回原處

在1.1.3 Firmware, 資料在

Call History
/var/mobile/Library/CallHistory/call_history.db

(10) 升級Firmware 2.0後, 發現Safari 很慢, 不穩定, 有時不能Connect Wifi, 802.1X 不能 Connect, Reset All settings 會令iPhone 停頓.

未解決方案:
Firmware 2.0 beta 是有問題的, 有可能由於Baseband 仍是04.04.05_G

(11) 當用 SDK 開新Project, build to device 出現 Codesign error: no certificate for identifier "iPhone Developer" was found in your keychain

解決方案:
edit project template file

 
 /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Project Templates/Application/Cocoa Touch Application/___PROJECTNAME___.xcodeproj/project.pbxproj

and comment out the two code signing signature settings in the file and recreate another new project

iphone 上有兩個文件

iPhone 的encrypt password 是根據這原理產生
在Mac Terminal 內執行

解決方案:
例如你想新的Password是 newpass
在Mac Terminal 內執行

openssl passwd -crypt -salt /s newpass

再將執行結果

If you don't develop programs using SDK, there is no need to goto firmware 2.0. And if you need to develop program using SDK, you need a machine running Mac OS X 10.5.2. So get a running Mac OS X is a pre-requisite for going to firmware 2.0

I have been running firmware beta 2.0 beta 3 (with 04.04.05_G) for nearly a week, there is not much problem when using the phone/SMS/email/Safari functions and with the SDK build features as well.

It is much better than the previous beta versions and is now a working beta phone at least.
