Testing freegovwifi with iPhone in Hong Kong Central Library
(1) Current 1.1.4 firmware of iPhone cannot support 802.1x connection, but can still use the unencrypted connection.
(2) Limited to one hour of usage (you may connect again after your session time if the maximum
number of users for that location is not yet met)
(3) Browsing speed is good (may be there are only a few users)
(4) Stock and Weather widgets OK
(5) Cannot play YouTube & iTunes (don't know why), Search OK.
(6) Installer Refresh OK
(7) Google Map Locate Me OK
(8) Mail cannot connect (mail ports are blocked), webmail is OK
(9) IRC cannot connect (port is blocked)
(10) iRadio cannot connect
(11) Game sites are blocked.
(12) No connection in Toilet

But they are now restricting to one hour connection usage to ensure more quality connection.

several questons raised

1) how long will it take to resume my connection after 1 hour ?
2) hom many IP can each WIFI port handle ?

as you can see in 老麥, cannot get the access at the time... when can, the speed is turtle....

For me, no high expectation....

yes you are right, sometimes I found that my EDGE connection is faster than the public WiFi spot.

Received reply from help desk

the session limit of 1 hour, it is not a per day basis and you may connect again after your session time if the maximum
number of users for that location is not yet met.
